ICOST2009 Conference will take place in the Hôtel de l'Univers, in the city of Tours. Located in the Loire Valley, Tours in at only 55 minutes from Paris by TGV (high speed train).
The Hôtel de l'Univers is located next to the Jean Jaurès place, the central place of the town which receives the city hall and the courthouse. The Hôtel de l'Univers is a four star hotel that was built in 1846, to accomodate a new and well-off clientele, coming in Tours because of the arrival of the railway in the city (the central railway station is at only 300 meters from the hotel). In the last century, the Hôtel de l'Univers was visited by many great names, considering that the Loire Valley was a necessary stop when visiting Europe. Nowadays, this hotel is still one of the most famous place to have accomodation in the region.

The region of Touraine, also known as "the garden of France", is studded with castles and famous residences, such as Chambord, Chenonceau or Chinon. Tours, its Capital, is ideally located in the heart of the Loire Valley. It is a region of well-being, art of living, gastronomy - in particular well-known vineyards -, culture and history. In this land, you can walk in the footsteps of great historical figures: Kings and Queens of France, Rabelais, Ronsard, Balzac, Descartes, or Leonardo da Vinci, who spent his last years in Amboise, where he was the "First Painter, Engineer and Architect" of the King Francis I. In the city of Tours, this heritage can be appreciate by walking in the old city or along the royal river.

How to join Tours and ICOST conference ?
You can join Tours by high speed train (TGV) from Paris city or Charles De Gaulle international airport, or directly by plane from the United Kingdom.
